Matt is back

I figured that it’s about time I put some more stuff on here; the poor blog has been stagnating since September, which just isn’t good.  I’ve been telling myself that it’s because work keeps me so busy, but that’s a lie because I always find time to play on Mario Kart.

So, I guess I’ll start off with what’s new here… the most important thing, I guess would be that I passed my driving test first time (although I have been having lessons since November).  In other news, Rob and I adopted a cat, Dory, from the RSPCA centre nearby; I got a Wii, which is great fun; last of but not least — although I guess it’s not really new — I’ve been at bit10 for 9½ months.

At work I’ve been placed on dedicated support for one of our larger clients, with the aim of clearing their support backlog and getting stuff up and working (bit10 have taken over management of the existing codebase from the client’s previous supplier).  It has had its ups and downs, but by far the most interesting thing has been the performance tuning of the database; something that I may consider further investigating as a possible career option.

Anyway, that’s all for now; I’ll try not to leave it so long for the next update!
